“From The Diggers to Extinction Rebellion”

This website contains six reflective essays on the politics of the 1932 Mass Trespass on Kinder Scout. I wrote them mainly during 2021. They explore different aspects of the political significance and resonance of the Mass Trespass, drawing on a wide range of ideas, people, events, political organisations and social movements from the mid-seventeenth century to the present day.

The website will eventually contain some additional resources. They will provide a bit more information on some of the topics touched on in the essays. They will offer a few suggestions of things you can read and do to discover more about the wider politics of the Mass Trespass.

April 2022 saw the 90th Anniversary of the Mass Trespass. On separate pages, I provide links to information about some of the events which celebrated that anniversary.

Please note that the entire website – including the six reflective essays – will be revised and re-configured during the summer and autumn of 2022. By all means, take what you will from it in the meantime; but do look again later in the year for updates and revisions.

There is also a blog page for comments, feedback and discussion.
